Daily Verse: Psalm 91:9-16

If you make the Most High your dwelling-- even the LORD, who is my refuge-- then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.  For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;  they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.  "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

Wow, if we are fishing for a reason to move close to God today, there is it! This world is full of uncertainty and all kinds of trouble, hardship, and pain. One minute we can be sailing along fine, the next we are cut at the knees just trying to stay above water. So why wouldn’t we want to live as close to God as possible? Why wouldn’t we want to open His word each day and surround ourselves with the security, hope, courage and strength that floods the pages? Imagine walking through each day with the confidence that God has actually sent a company of His angels to walk with us through the day (91:11)…or that whenever we want, we can stop in our tracks and actually call upon God…and the best part about it? God will actually answer us (91:15)! We won’t avoid challenges and troubles in life by living close to God (91:15)…but we can be assured that we won’t weather the storms alone. We won’t have to endure an illness alone…we won’t have to navigate unemployment alone…we won’t have to mend a broken relationship alone…we won’t have to struggle with greed, lust, insecurity, and anger alone. God’s there every step of the way…keenly aware of our needs and wants…and eagerly waiting to be invited into the mix. May we not only make room for God in our lives, but take it a step further and wrap our lives around Him…allowing Him to drive the bus, lead the charge, and determine the way! To God be the glory!
