Daily Verse: Psalm 145:18

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth

Imagine if the text above stated that the “Lord comes to all who call on him”…or that the “Lord makes his way to those who call on him”…or even the “Lord eventually arrives near to all who call on him”. It would certainly convey a different feeling than what is actually stated in the text above. It would convey a sense of delay or time between when we call to God and when he receives our prayer. But in text above, there is no delay…we get the feeling that when we call to God in prayer, he is instantly near us, as if he was completely in tune with our lives already and was waiting anxiously at the door to be welcomed in. There is great comfort in this text for is it shows that we each are very important in the eyes of the Lord…so important that when we simply call out to him, we have his attention…instantly he is near us. Now, he may not actually respond to our request at that time (Psalm 145:15 “The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time”), but we can find peace in knowing that he is aware of our need and he is by our side. So no matter what defeat or triumph, loss or victory, high or low we experience today, we can find peace and security in knowing that our Lord is near us. To God be the glory!
