Daily Verse: Psalm 142:1-2

I cry aloud to the LORD; I lift up my voice to the LORD for mercy. I pour out my complaint before him; before him I tell my trouble.

Far too often when we encounter trouble in our lives, we try to solve it on our own. We try to use what abilities and skills we have developed over time to resolve the conflict. We go at it from different angles and with different resources, confident that we can triumph and defeat the problem. But often times we fail…the negativity remains…and it can even start to grow, consuming our days and wreaking havoc in our lives. The text above highlights the fact that we don’t have to battle on our own. We can go to God and “pour out” our complaints to him…we can set every single mess, burden, conflict, and disaster at his feet and ask for help. And he will listen…and he will respond. Why? Because his love for us in unending, unmatched, completely sufficient. He is not going to grow tired of our moaning, he won’t see the problem as insignificant or unimportant, and he won’t hold our past mistakes against us, claiming that we don’t deserve his help. So today may we turn to him with the trouble in our lives, laying the “reigns” in his hands, and trusting in his loving response! To God be glory!
