If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
The text above makes it clear that there is no hiding from God. Even when we dip into sin because we think we are alone and no one is watching, God is still aware of what we are doing. We can view this with great humility and fear as well as with great peace and joy. We are humbled and fearful because we are sinners, we are ashamed, and we have no excuse for our sinful behavior. We have chosen the path, we have chosen the sin, and we stand guilty. God sees all the dirt, the shame, and the darkness in our lives. But then comes the peace and joy part. For through Christ, we are not condemned for our sins. Through repentance and true faith in Christ, we have been made new, washed clean, released from our just punishment. We have a God that loves us so dearly, that he makes every effort to be aware of every moment in our lives. He even loves us enough to have completed the plan ahead of time…just see Psalm 139:16, “your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” So if we are on top of the world, basking in great success, he is there with us. If we are at the bottom of the bucket, suffering and hurting, he is there with us as well. We are protected, loved, and secured no matter where we stand in life. May we be so motivated by the incredible self-sacrificing love from our Lord that we strive to make EVERY single part of our lives pleasing him. And through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we will see a better alignment of our lives with God’s plan…and we will find a life that brings a smile to the Creators face! To God be the glory!
