Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.
If we are living a life that is apart from God, then it is not worth living. If we are working in a way that separates us from God, then our efforts are futile. If we are accumulating wealth in a manner that contradicts God’s commands, then the wealth is worthless. If we are doing anything apart from God…if we are speaking any words apart from God, taking any actions apart from God, or harboring any thoughts apart from God, then we are in need of an overhaul. Our lives should center on God, including him in everything that we do. In our work, we should work to please the Lord. In our parenting, we should strive for God’s approval. As husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, friends and relatives, we should make it our goal to always seek what is good in the eyes of the Lord. Placing Love over hate, choosing peace over anger, trading resentment for forgiveness, and choosing righteousness over sin. Is this easy? No. Is it possible, worthy, and beneficial? Absolutely…and through faithful prayer and disciplined obedience, the Holy Spirit will make it possible. What a difference it would make in our lives and the lives around us…and what a display of love it would be to our incredibly loving God. To God be the glory!
