Daily Verse: Psalm 121:3

He will not let your foot slip-- he who watches over you will not slumber;

When I was a child, I always found comfort when I fell asleep at night while my parents were still awake and roaming around downstairs. There was peace in knowing that my parents, the “protectors” in my world, were awake and could defend against any harm that came to our door while I slept.  And since they were awake when I fell asleep, in my young mind I somehow believed they remained “on guard” throughout the night, ensuring that we were fully protected. That idea I harbored as a child was obviously not a reality, but that doesn’t mean I was any less protected. Even though I didn’t realize it at the time, God was awake and on guard during all those nights. In the text above, we can find great security and peace in knowing that God is ALWAYS watching over our lives. He doesn’t need breaks, doesn’t get too busy, and doesn’t get bored. He is genuinely concerned for each of our lives, and as such, keeps a constant watch. So may we rest assured today that no matter what unknown awaits us around the next bend, our all-powerful God is in the mix and knows what is coming…and he knows exactly what we need to weather the storm. To God be the glory!
