Daily Verse: Ephesians 5:16

…making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Making the most of every opportunity to love instead of hate. Making the most of every opportunity to pick someone up when the world has cut them at the knees instead of walking on past. Making the most of every opportunity to choose patience and understanding over rage and anger. Making the most of every opportunity to share the Gospel with another so that every person might come to know Christ as Savior…leading the lost to be found, the sinner to the saved, and the condemned to be redeemed. The text above states that “the days are evil”, implying that the days in this miserably broken world are littered with opportunities to sin. Sinning is easy, especially when it resides all around us, beckoning us to make a place for it in our lives. Rejecting sin and committing to righteousness is not. In fact, it can seem impossibly difficult at times. It takes discipline, commitment, courage, tenacity, and an unwavering passion. But so did taking undeserved beatings, carrying a cross up a hill, being nailed to that cross, and finally dying on that cross through crucifixion. Yet that is exactly what Christ did for each of us…a discipline, commitment, courage, tenacity, and passion that lead to our salvation. Through Christ, we can reject sin in our lives…through his strength, wisdom, and direction, we can leave sin on the sideline. May we make the most of every opportunity today to live for our incredible God, serving him with every word, thought, and deed. To God be the glory!
