If the LORD delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
There you have it…a reason to live righteously! If we live a life that is pleasing to the Lord, he will make our lives secure. If we are living closely to his Word, he will ensure that are steps are solid, safe, and strong. We will still have moments where we stumble…moments where we slip into sin and take a path that displeases the Lord…or moments when evil enters the picture and takes it’s hunk of flesh…but we will not fall away. God will be there to pick us up, dust us off, and point us in the right direction. To ensure this incredible relationship, we need to live our lives close to the Lord. We need to be reading his Word daily, willingly following his direction when he points the way, and building up greater discipline each day, becoming fully committed to HIS way…not our way. And make no mistake, we can’t fool the Lord…he knows if we are making a conscious and genuine attempt to live a life that he can delight in…or if we are just putting on a front. We may be able to fool each other, but God sees right through our smoke screen, right into the real hearts and minds of each of us. So today, may we truly work to live in a way that the Lord can delight in…close to his heart, close to his plan, and close to his will. And then when we see our steps have been made secure, we can bask in the greatness of having the Lord working in our lives. To God be the glory!
