I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips
The text above would certainly be something worthy of aspiring for…to praise the Lord at all times, always looking to speak words of applause for what the Lord has done in our lives. Now this would be no easy task, but imagine for a moment what that might look like. When we are given an undesirable assignment at work…instead of groaning and complaining, we give thanks to God for the job he has blessed us with and the ability to work. When we are grinding through the daily battles of parenting…instead of complaining about the tasks at hand, we give praise to God for blessing us with the opportunity to love and be loved, the opportunity to shape a life, and care for another. When we are paying high prices for gasoline and groceries…instead of shaking our fist in anger at “the man”, we give praise to God for giving us a vehicle to drive and food on the shelves to purchase. Our lives are absolutely filled with things from the Father’s hands that justify us keeping his praise always on our lips. And even if we are completely broke, unemployed, unhealthy and in complete despair, we still have reason for praise…for nothing can take away the gift we have received through faith in Jesus Christ. The promise of complete forgiveness of sin and eternal rest in heaven. May we take the time today to pause and take an inventory of the blessings in our lives, and aspire to always have praise on our lips for the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the God Almighty…the One who gives us ALL that is good in our lives. To God be the glory!
