Daily Verse: Hebrews 6:19

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain

Big football game last night…one mighty winner and one big time loser. I read an article this morning that recounted the scene in the “losers” locker room after the defeat. It focused particularly on the key players on the team and how they were handling the defeat. One word seemed to capture it well…devastation. These guys had come to the pinnacle of the sport and fell short…they had failed. The article centered on a theme of “there is no tomorrow after this”. Sure, it would be a hard pill to swallow being in the shoes of those players…but thankfully it’s not the end all be all. We all encounter failure to some degree in our lives…whether it’s losing a job, disappointing a child or spouse, crashing a presentation, or going broke…but as it says in a famous 80’s movie, “The sun will come out tomorrow”. We have hope even when massive disappointment rolls into town…no matter if we fail monumentally or just marginally, we will always have the hope that comes from our Lord. He won’t look at our worldly shortcomings and cast us aside as “losers”…not even for a second. He embraces us whether we are winners or losers and he will always shine a positive path ahead for our lives (see Jeremiah 29:11) . So whether we win or lose today…whether we arrive at the top or somewhere near the bottom…there is still great hope for tomorrow. And when we take our last breath and finally run out of tomorrows, that’s when the true greatness begins. Great are the things the Lord has prepared for those who trust in him! To God be the glory!
