Daily Verse: 1 Corinthians 9:24

“…Run in such a way as to get the prize.”

If you have ever run a race, you know that it is typically not pleasant…at least not during the race. There is physical strain on the body…there is mental stress on the mind, as you not only compete against another person (worrying if you ahead or behind)…but you also compete against your own body that is screaming “stop, sit down…I am not digging this stuff.” The race is unpleasant at times…especially if it is long and filled with obstacles. But in the end, it feels so good…as you pass the finish line and come to a rest. No more straining, no more pain, no more stress…finally rest, relaxation, and reward. And the reward is given BECAUSE you actually ran the race…you didn’t cheat, quit, or avoid all together. Our life is much the same…it’s a race. And it’s kind of ironic that the finish line is death…so we are essentially racing to die. Ha! But we know as believers in Christ, that death is not the end…rather it is just the beginning. The beginning of an eternity in paradise…just think…we get peace, rest, and joy…FOREVER! It’s hard to really conceptualize what heaven will be like…but as we know through God’s Word, it will be far beyond any greatness that we can fathom…and that is awesome! So whether our race in life is short or long, filled with potholes and obstacles or paved for an easy cruise, we cannot deviate from the path we are meant to run…we must to quit, we must not lose hope. For in the end there will be an incredible reward for those that truly followed the Savior…those with a genuine dependence on the salvation purchased through Christ. To God be the glory!
