Daily Verse: Acts 4:14

But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say

This must have been an incredible scene. Peter and John had just brought healing to a man that had spent his life crippled…all done in the name of Jesus Christ…as professed in Acts 4:10, “then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.” And because of this healing, they were arrested and thrown into jail. From jail they proclaimed this great news…that salvation is found only in the Lord Jesus Christ. The rulers, elders, and teachers of the law wanted to oppose this message that Peter and John spoke but they could not…they were too busy gazing in amazement at the sight of this once crippled man now standing before them. Imagine the looks on their faces…as they stood stunned at what had just occurred. Priceless! In our world today, many need to see to believe…many need to see God in action, something concrete in order to believe in him. But as it says in John 20:29, “blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed”. It would be fantastic if we could all witness one of God’s miracles like these people did…but if we do not, we must still believe. For not seeing yet believing is the very foundation of faith…a faith that will reap a great reward in heaven one day. May we maintain an unshakable faith in the Lord even when we do not see him in action, trusting in his saving grace. To God be the glory!
