Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up
Our faith in Christ is quite literally the most precious
gift we possess in this life. Yes, our spouses, children, mothers, fathers,
sisters and brothers are all very important, but compared to this gift we possess
called the Gospel, they all come in second place. Without the gift of Jesus in
our lives, we would be hopeless, aimless, and downright depressed. Our future
would be nothing…all bound for the pits of hell. Thankfully, that is not the
case. Thankfully we have a Savior that redeems all those that call him Lord.
And not only does he redeem us in the end, but he walks with us daily, lifting
us up, shouldering our burdens, helping us out from under the crushing weight
of insecurity, uncertainty, worry, and anxiety. And often times he does this
through other believers. He uses those in his family of believers to love others.
He intends to use each of us daily to share his love with others in this world.
The problem is we don’t always listen. We don’t always follow his direction
when he is leading us to care for another. Maybe it’s because we feel
uncomfortable with speaking his comforting Word to another. Maybe it’s because
we are too busy or even too selfish to follow his lead. Or maybe it’s because
we are frightened by how the other person might react. Whatever it is, we need to
push aside our own weaknesses and stop getting in the way of God working in our
lives. We need to embrace the path God puts before us to do his work. We are a family
of believers…and as such, we called to care for one another…believers helping
believers. And at times, we are even called to go out into the field of
non-believers, and care for them too…for the harvest is mighty plentiful…it’s
the laborers that are few. May we seek to be a laborer for God with each new
sunrise, following the path he sets before us, sharing his love and Gospel with
others. To God alone be the glory!
