This is the day the
Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Every day is a made by God. He makes the sun shine during
the day and the moon glow at night. Every new day that we are given is a gift
from God…after all, he holds the keys and he decides when the lights are going
to be turned off. Our days aren’t always great. Our days aren’t always filled
with reasons to be glad and joyful. In fact, we probably have more rough days
than good days. This is just a product of the broken world that we live in. A world
mired with sin…a world that is selfish, self-seeking, and lost. But there is
still reason to rejoice and be glad in EVERY day. We can rejoice because the life
we live in this world is not the end all be all…it’s not all we get. No, when
this life closes something SO much better begins. When this life closes, through
our faith in Christ, the door opens into heaven. And based on the way God’s Word
addresses heaven, it’s going to be something spectacular. So if we are living a
day where we just lost our job, we caught a flat on the drive home, and the
washing machine breaks, we can still rejoice and be glad. If we are sitting in
a hospital, fighting some ruthless disease, we can still find reason to be glad
for the day. No matter what our battle may be at the present time, it is
absolutely and completely temporary. It will end one day…the discomfort will
cease, the stress will disappear, and the agony will subside. And out loving
Father will replace it with perfect peace, rest, and joy…no more struggle, no
more challenges, no more trouble. So today, focus on the Savior, focus on the end
game, focus on the incredible never-ending gift that has been promised to us
when this temporary life comes to a close…and let that be our reason to rejoice
and be glad…let that be our reason to give thanks to the Lord for the day at
hand! To God alone be the glory!
