Hebrews 3:7-8

Hebrews 3:7-8

So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness

We have a lot of things vying for our attention in this life. Between work, families, phones, the internet, TV, and radio, we are being blasted daily with different messages and directions. At times it can seem maddening, like we are enveloped in constant chaos and we are just working to stay above water. One of the voices in our lives is the one voice that we should pay most attention to. One voice is the voice that we should actually seek out and soak in every speck of its wisdom. One voice is one that we should never grow tired of hearing. Through the Holy Spirit, we have a direct line to the Living God. Through the Holy Spirit, we have an open line of communication with God…and God uses that line to impact our lives. When we are going astray and walking a sinful path, God speaks discipline, instruction, and correction into our lives. When we are scraping the bottom of the barrel, God speaks encouragement, confidence, and hope into our world. When we are on top of the world and things are going well, God reminds us to be humble, grateful, and charitable in our lives. Whatever the circumstances, God is active in our lives…God is relaying a message to us daily. It should be our goal and privilege to always be receptive to his message…to always be willing to hear his message, even when it’s something we may not necessarily want to hear. We should be careful not to harden our hearts towards the Lord, for everything that is handed down from the Lord is without a doubt for our own good. May we welcome his voice with each new day and follow where he leads us. To God alone be the glory!
