Hebrews 11:1

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

It is almost impossible to explain to someone what the Holy Spirit feels like when that person has never experienced the Holy Spirit for themselves. It’s almost like trying to explain what wind feels like to someone that has never felt the wind passing over their skin. Or explain what water feels like to someone who has never been wet. The feeling of the Holy Spirit is just something that is…something that is incredible and completely real, and we feel a profound impact on our lives when the Spirit is present, but yet we can’t relay that feeling effectively to another. The Holy Spirit enables us to believe some things that non-believers might see as pretty outlandish. It enables us to believe in a God that we cannot see, trust a Savior that we cannot touch, and feel a Holy Spirit that we cannot see nor adequately describe. Yet we know without a shadow of doubt that all three exist…alive and well…and all three impact our lives daily. We can’t somehow grab ahold of all three and display as physical evidence to someone else, yet we know they are as real as the sun that shines in the sky. Faith is an incredible gift, it’s a privilege…for without faith, without the Holy Spirit enabling us to feel and trust God, what hope would we have? How dark and heavy would this life be if this earthly life was all there was to our existence? It would be unbearable…it would be wholeheartedly depressing. Thankfully, we do have a loving God, we do feel the Spirit, we do have a Savior…and through faith, we have a real relationship with all three…the Trinity, the Three in One! And this relationship brings us peace, it makes us content, it removes worry and doubt, and it promises a perfect place of rest once this life comes to a close. And this highlights one of the key reasons why, as believers, we are called to share the Gospel with others. So that others might find this same peace and hope…so that others might come to call the one true God their God…so that others will know that when death comes knocking, Jesus kicks death in the mouth and raises them each to new life! May we seek to deepen our faith and relationship with the Lord each day and may we look for ways where the Spirit prompts us to share the hope of the Gospel with others. For there is simply nothing greater in our lives than the live saving Gospel of Christ! To God alone be the glory!
