Hebrews 10:19-22

Hebrews 10:19-22

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water

I spent much of my early years in life seeing God as this heavy fisted authority figure, reigning over top of me, keeping score of performance, and being completely unapproachable. I failed to take the time to personally invest in God’s Word and discover verses like the one above. Through our faith in Christ, God is completely approachable. Through the price Christ paid, we can truly see God as a father…a loving father, eager to spend time with his child. Through Christ, God is completely approachable, no matter where we are in life, what we may have done wrong, or how long we have been apart from him. Through Christ, we are completely reconciled with God. When we take time to actually pause and dwell on this reality, it borders unbelievable. In fact, without the Holy Spirit, we could find numerous reasons to think it foolish that the very Creator of the world actually wants to be close to us. The One that hung the stars, dug the rivers, stretched the mountains, and created an actual man out of dust, wants to spend time with US? You bet he does. We might be insignificant, unimportant, and downright meek in the eyes of the world, but in the eyes of our Lord, our Father in heaven, the Almighty God, we are deeply treasured, cherished, and significant! May we find peace in this reality…may we find comfort in knowing we have a father that cherishes us…and may we make time to dwell in God’s Word each day, drawing near to God with a genuine, sincere, and devoted heart. To God alone be the glory!
