This verse caught my attention because it seems to validate the
fact that the joy we experience from following Jesus is at times inexpressible.
There are moments when the Holy Spirit is in the mix and the joy is absolutely
overflowing…yet we fail to convey or explain that to others. It’s like there
are not adequate words to explain exactly what we are experiencing…yet it’s
there and it’s real. We obviously spread the Gospel because we want others to
receive the same salvation that we have been promised. But perhaps there is a
bit more to our desire…perhaps we want folks to experience that “inexpressible and glorious joy” that we
have found. Perhaps we talk about Jesus because we want others to find that
security, peace, and contentment in this life that we have found in Christ. Maybe
we don’t need to struggle with trying to explain this joy or somehow, as
ridiculous as it sounds, package it up and hand it to the next person. Maybe we
just need to introduce them to Jesus…maybe we just need to plant the seed and allow
the Lord to make it grow. And at some point, that person might return to us,
struggling to find the right words to explain the joy that they are
experiencing through the Holy Spirit. We are truly a blessed people to have
this unexplainable, illogical, and mysterious joy in our lives! All glory and
praise to our Lord for filling our lives with this indescribable…can’t put my
finger on it…it just is what it is…incredible joy! To God be the glory!
