Daily Verse: 1 Peter 1:4-6

This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

If you need something to find genuine joy in today, here it is: You are going to die someday. No, this is not my attempt at a tasteless joke or morbid humor. Rather it is a genuine realization that as believers in Christ Jesus, we have one heck of an incredible gift waiting for us once our curtain closes in this world. The verse above captures this reality well. While each day on this earth may be one battle after another battle, we can still rejoice greatly knowing that one day all the struggle will come to a close and ONLY peace, joy, and rest will await. Imagine that for a minute…every single day will be nothing but perfect peace and joy. I don’t think that is something that we can truly grasp in our world. For no matter how great a day in this life may be, it can never be perfect…it may seem like it can get pretty close, but we live in a sinful world and there will always be something off. But make no mistakes folks, if we claim Jesus as our true Savior…if we profess that there is simply no way we can earn our way into God’s good graces and that there is absolutely no other way but Jesus…then consider it done. Start the rejoicing, begin the celebration…our ticket to heaven is punched and all we need to do is wait for our name to be called! So whether today seems like one of those near perfect days or it is an absolute kick in the teeth, may we still cling to the hope found in Jesus Christ, and give thanks to our incredibly gracious and merciful God. To God be the glory!
