The book of Proverbs places heavy emphasis on seeking wisdom.
There are numerous references of how important it is to embrace wisdom and
righteousness and separate ourselves from stupidity, idiocy, and sin. The wisdom that we are called to seek out is not
necessarily worldly wisdom, but rather wisdom from the Lord…wisdom that aligns
with God’s principles, commands, and direction. Wisdom that shows us how to
love, how to speak, how to think, how to respect the Lord, and how to treat
each other. If you have ever witnessed a mother bear separated from her cubs,
you understand the incredibly dangerous situation that is at hand. That mother
bear is completely consumed with rage, fury, and anger and will do absolutely
everything…including taking the life of another…to return to her children. And
yet the text above states that this kind of precarious situation is actually BETTER
to encounter than a foolish person wrapped up in their sinful stupidity. When
we are acting in stupidity, foolishness, and recklessness, we are usually
operating in the arena of sin. We are not thinking about what we are saying or
doing…we are just reacting in the moment based on what comes out first…and what
comes out first usually has a sinful foundation. There is no filter…there is no
filter that weeds out the sinful behavior and allows for only righteousness.
But when we seek wisdom from God, we will find that our words, thoughts, and
actions start to better align with the will of the Father. And when we are
aligned with the Father, everything in life seems to fall in place…for there is
no better place to be in this world than on the side of our all-providing,
all-empowering, and all-loving Lord. To God be the glory!
