I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.
One of the great things about God’s Word is that it provides numerous examples of how God worked great things in the lives of his people. There are testimonies of how God healed the sick, brought site to the blind, rescued thousands from the punishing hand of an evil dictator, raised the dead to life, and defeated opponents believed to be too strong and too powerful to overcome. Imagine if we didn’t have this text…imagine how difficult it would be to pray to God without evidence of his miraculous ability. It is from these very examples that we draw hope in our own lives. We see the great things God has done for the people who call out to him…and through Christ, we have the privilege to call out to him as well. Jesus says in John 14:13-14 “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” If we need a “Red Sea” parted in our lives, then we can call out to God for a solution…if we need a “Goliath” defeated in our world, we can pray to God for strength and courage…if we need healing and recovery, we can pray to God who stands ready and willing to work in our lives. And once we have prayed, we must remain faithful and patient for Him to respond in his timing and in his way. May we find hope today in the great examples of God’s work in the lives of his people and faithfully trust that he is working in our lives as well. To God be the glory!
