For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
There is a great peace in the text above. For through repentance of our sin and genuine faith in Christ, we are promised a place in heaven with God. Through Christ, the filthy and condemning grip of sin is released…we are no longer imprisoned by it’s overwhelming power and destined for eternal punishment. That message alone is something that we can recline back on and simply say “Ahhhh”. We are not required to complete a series of steps, check a bunch of boxes, or pass a barrage of tests to ensure that we are “good” enough or that we have done enough good to “work off” or mistakes. Rescue, redemption and forgiveness comes through faith and faith alone. But we must be careful not to kick back to long and rest on this incredible gift. God still wants us to be his instruments in this life…doing his will…serving him with our lives. We aren’t mean to hideaway indoors, keeping this great prize all to ourselves. Rather we are meant to go out and let the light of Christ shine through us…let the world know what it is that we have found in Christ. Sometimes God nudges us with a gentle tap, other times it comes like a brick to the forehead. But however it make come, we must not ignore it, resting on the fact that salvation comes simply through faith and not necessarily through our works. There are so many in this world that have yet to receive the incredible gift of salvation through Christ…and as believers, we are called to share it with them, pointing them to the Savior. May we have the boldness, willingness, and commitment to share the Gospel in our lives today so that all may come to know the love that we have found in Christ our Savior. To God be the glory!
