Daily Verse: Psalm 11:1-3

1 In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: "Flee like a bird to your mountain. 2 For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. 3 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do ?"

If I could paraphrase the above text: “Are you kidding me? Do you see who is in my corner? Do you see who is protecting me? You want me to run from your threats, retreat and give up? Not a chance.” The first part of verse 1 above is subtle, and found in numerous places throughout the book of Psalms, yet it captures the very foundation that we stand on: The LORD…In the LORD I take refuge, shelter, protection…in the LORD I am safe, secure, confident…in the LORD I cannot be destroyed, crushed, or ruined. Let’s not be naïve…the world is full of all kinds of mess that can cause pain, suffering, and even death. But as long as we are breathing, we have God in our corner, walking us through the battle…cuts, bruises, and broken bones will come but they will not defeat us (See Psalm 37:23-24). And when we stop breathing…when the curtains close, the sun sets… it’s only the beginning to something incredible. For it is at that point where we will meet THE Savior face to face…and we will see what has been described in 1 Corinthians 2:9 as what “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived”. Take a moment and let that stew in your mind…the one true God standing before us, face to face…absolutely mind blowing!. No matter what we face in this life, as long as we remain rooted in Christ, we cannot be separated from God…we are a part of his family. And I like to think God carries a big stick in defense of those he calls family. May we find refuge, confidence, and security in his presence today. To God be the glory!
