You have seen, O LORD, the wrong done to me. Uphold my cause! You have seen the depth of their vengeance, all their plots against me. O LORD, you have heard their insults, all their plots against me-- what my enemies whisper and mutter against me all day long.
Feel like you’re running this race alone? Feel like you have all this junk coming down on your head and no one cares or notices? Feel like you must withstand the battles and navigate the waters on your own? No one in your corner, no one calling to offer help, no one providing interference? Then read the text above again. Even if we are not sharing every battle, every struggle, every conflict with God, he still knows about it. He sees it, he hears it, he knows it. As a parent feels pain when their child is wrapped in a battle, so God feels pain when one of his children are suffering. He’s standing right by our side, waiting for us to request his participation…waiting for us to request his impact on the situation. And when we reach out to him….whoa buddy, he jumps in with both feet and gets to work! Just see Lamentations 3:55-58, “I called on your name, O LORD, from the depths of the pit. You heard my plea: "Do not close your ears to my cry for relief." You came near when I called you, and you said, "Do not fear." O Lord, you took up my case; you redeemed my life.” His response may not be instant…his impact may not be exactly what we had in mind…his influence may not altogether remove the struggle…but make no mistake, his impact on the situation will be exactly what is needed. It may take time and it may involve some growing pains for us, but we are immeasurably better off with it than without it. So whatever mess comes to our door today, may we stand confident that our Lord is in the mix…he sees the struggle and he gets to work in our lives. Call out to him today…see what happens. To God be the glory!
