Daily Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Life can be a real beating at times. Maybe it’s a health issue that starts each day reminding us that the next 12 hours are going to be brutal. Maybe it’s a dangerous environment that makes each day a gamble on whether or not we are going to make it to see another sunrise. Or maybe we struggle with a sinful addiction that has us by the throat, making each day a repeated mess. Whatever our battle may be, if we are rooted in Christ, then we have a reason for hope. We have a reason to rise each new day, even if we know that this new day is going to leave us bruised and abused by sunset. If we are in Christ, we cannot be crushed, we will not be abandoned, we will not be destroyed…God confirms this in Hebrews 13:5, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you”.

That doesn’t mean life will be peachy and easy…it just means God goes with us through the battle and will never leave our side. May we find peace in that today…that no matter what battle we withstand each day…we have a reason to smile, a reason to give thanks, and a reason to see each new day as a blessing.
