Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
If we can find no bright spot to a Monday morning, no joy to returning to our jobs after a weekend of rest, no excitement in starting a new work week, may we find joy in the text above. For with each new sunrise, comes renewed compassion, concern, and kindness from our God. Just think…not a one of us lived a perfect life this weekend…not a one of us completely avoided sin and rightfully deserve kindness from God. Yet there it is…solid yesterday, today, and tomorrow. For through Christ, we have the opportunity for a genuine, deep relationship with THE God of gods, THE Lord of lords, THE Creator of every good thing in this world. We will not be consumed by the struggles, hardships, or persecutions that inhabit this world…we will not be consumed by poverty, hunger, stress, unemployment, or pain…we will not be defeated, snuffed-out, covered over…for we have the “Lord’s great love”. And if that is all we have…if we stand completely empty-handed…if we have nothing except the love of the Lord, then we remain richly blessed. For in the end that is all that will matter…in the end there will be a great reward for those who are faithful…there will be joy, peace, rest. May we return to this verse throughout the day, finding hope in knowing that we are each deeply loved by the one true God! To God be the glory!
