Daily Verse: 1 Corinthians 8:3

But the man who loves God is known by God.

I would think that it would be rare to find a person in the last minutes of their life that does not want to be known by God…that does not want to have God keenly aware of their current state and attentive to their “new destination”. When life is rosy…when things are going well, we are healthy, well-paid, well-fed, and well-liked, the desire to be known by God might not be so potent. But how many of us know exactly when our clock is going to stop ticking? How many of us have a calendar with our final day marked, certain of when we will expire? No one…for only God knows when we will take our final breath. So as the text states above, if we are to be known by God, then we must love God. So do we? Do we truly love God or are we just putting on a good front? But what does that look like…how do we display love for God when we can’t even see him? Perhaps it’s evident in how we treat each other…are we loving or hateful to God’s children? Maybe it’s apparent in how we use the gifts he has given us…are we selfless or selfish? Maybe it’s displayed in how we prioritize our lives…are we more focused on pleasing man or pleasing God? I am completely convinced that if we have a genuine love for God, then it will be obvious in our lives…in the words we speak, in the actions we take. Only God knows a person’s heart…only God knows whether or not we have a  sincere love for him. If we think there is any doubt, may we take time to speak to the Lord today, requesting his Spirit infiltrate every corner of our lives. So that when we do arrive at the last few ticks on our clock, we will have no fear, for we will be known by our God and destined for eternal salvation with him in heaven! To God be the glory!
