May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
Is there any greater example of perseverance than that provided by Christ? Just take his last few days of life (not to even mention the incredibly trying start he had at life). He was arrested, jailed, beaten, forced to drag a massive cross up to the top of a hill, nailed to that cross, then left to hang on the cross until he died. As the very God in man, he knew what he was to face…the pain, the ridicule, the death…yet he persevered…because he knew there was a greater purpose at hand. He knew that if he managed to persevere through this incredible trial, in the end, mankind would be saved (certainly no minor achievement). But how many of us would raise our hand and volunteer for this same position? Volunteering to endure such incredible pain and eventual death for another…and not just an ordinary person…but a direct enemy, someone who conspired against you, disobeyed your teachings, and cursed your name. Christ defines the very word “tough”, “rugged”, and “resilient”…and he provides a very real example for us to draw from in our own lives. When we are staring down the charging bulls, treading in chin deep waters, or clinging to cliff sides in our own lives, may we draw from the example set by our Savior, holding firm to our belief in him, and refusing to waver in our faith. No matter what comes at us…we can preserve with God on our side…all we have to do is tap into his endless power. To God be the glory!
