Daily Verse: 1 Corinthians 13:13

…But the greatest of these is love.

The song “Your Beloved” includes a verse that says “Unashamed to call me your own, I’m your beloved”. We all have a list of things from our past that we have done that we are not proud of and would not expect someone else to be proud of either. Yet God looks at us…at the good and the bad…at the beautiful things and the ugly things…and he smiles, as an understanding parent would smile, and stretches out his arms, calling us to embrace. He understands that we have made a lot of mistakes and that we are likely to make many more down the road…but he loves us anyway. Through the sacrifice made by his only Son, he says “I don’t care about yesterday, I love you and forgive you…now let’s go together into tomorrow…let’s leave behind what is behind and start on this new path I have prepared for you ahead…and no, don’t worry, I am going with you…every step of the way.” Not only do we have the comfort of being loved and cherished, but we have the companionship of our Lord throughout our lives. He is not a god that sits on high, reflecting on his servants from a distance…no, he is a God that gets down in the weeds with us, gets his hands dirty, and lights the path ahead. It’s almost comical to think that the Almighty God cares enough for an insignificant person like me and you to walk with us through our day. What have we done to deserve that? Nothing…and that is why it is such an incredible privilege! One granted because we are NOT insignificant at all…rather we are treasured as one treasures a priceless object…valued enough that an innocent life was sacrificed for us…and not just any life, but the very God as Man. If you think you are not loved today, just meditate on that for a moment…we are each deeply loved in the eyes of the Lord! To God be the glory!
