Psalm 56:3-4

Psalm 56:3-4

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

It is in times of difficulty when we seek refuge in God the most. It’s in those challenging moments of defeat and struggle when we turn to the promises that God has made to give us hope and continue putting one foot in front of the other. If it weren’t for a faith that reassures us that there is great joy to come, life would be a dark and heavy road to walk. That realization dwells heavily on my mind at times. For those people that do not know Christ as we believers know Christ, what gets them through each day? What reassures them that no matter how much garbage is piled in their path, there is a reason to smile about the days ahead? As believers, we have been given the beautiful ability, through the Holy Spirit, to believe in the one true God…and to believe, wholeheartedly, that this one true God has made a promise through his Son to rescue us when our current life comes to a close. A rescue that includes a promised place in heaven (and eventually a new earth) where there will be no struggle, no hardships, no battles…no financial problems, no illnesses, no relationship conflicts, and no temptations to sin. All will be perfect. We share the Gospel not to try and win an argument, to triumph in some “us vs. them” scenario, or prove all “haters” wrong. No, we share the Gospel because we want others to feel the same love, peace, and joy that we experience from the Father. We want others to find the same contentment, peace and purpose that we find through Christ. There is simply nothing more valuable in our lives than the relationship that we have with our Creator through Christ. So when we have the opportunity to speak to the Gospel to another, may we find the courage, strength, and confidence, through the Holy Spirit, to do so. And in the meantime, may we live a life that shines the Gospel…a life that loves, forgives, and supports those around us. For our hope is that all may turn to the Lord…that all may seek refuge through Christ…and that all may feel the love of our Creator. To God alone be the glory!
