Colossians 2:6-7

Colossians 2:6-7

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

The different hat’s that we wear make for a tricky life. In one situation, we adopt of stance of kindness, tolerance, and forgiveness. Then in another situation, we are coarse, cutting, and ruthless. At some point in our lives, as the verse notes above, we received Christ Jesus as the Lord of our lives. And when we received that faith through the Holy Spirit, we changed from old to new…we changed from the condemned to the redeemed…we transformed from the lost to the found, from the hopeless to the hopeful, from the unrighteous to the righteous. And what a privileged family of believers we are…for it is through this faith that we have reason to smile about tomorrow and every day after that, right into the very death that we must all face one day. For once we have passed through the death of this earthly life, we will awaken in the presence of the King! Therefore out of love for our Creator that has literally given us everything good in our lives, we strive each day to live as a people that have received Christ…to live as people rooted in Christ…as people reflecting the joy, confidence, and gratitude that comes from the Spirit. Before you speak a word, consider whether or not it reflects words of someone living in Christ. Before you take an action, stop and think about whether or not it reflects a life rooted in Christ. When insecurity starts to seep into your mind, consider that you are highly treasured and valued in the eyes of the Creator. So treasured and valued, that a perfect Man gave up his life in order to rescue YOU from the fires of hell…a completely innocent, blameless, and beautiful Savior thought so highly of YOU that he sacrificed himself for YOU. Why? Because that was the only way to make things right…it was the only way to restore the relationship between God and man that had been shredded by sin. And God did it out of love…genuine, deep, unmatched love. May we keep that at the forefront of our minds each day, leading us to live lives that reflect our faith, rooted in Christ, and overflowing with thanks and praise to the Lord! To God alone be the glory!
