Galatians 1:11-12
I want you to know,
brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. I did
not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by
revelation from Jesus Christ.
The Gospel that we follow today did not originate at the hands
of man. It was not something cleverly invented by twelve guys huddled in a room
looking to create some kind of neat group that others might buy into. Rather it
was revealed to the world, and the disciple Paul, by the very God in the flesh…it
was directly relayed through words and actions of Jesus Christ…the very Son of
God…one part of the Triune God. There are a lot of paths that man has invented
for us to walk in this life. There are a lot of false religions, claiming to be
truth, that can seem quite convincing. In fact, there are even groups claiming
Christianity that have “cherry-picked” God’s Word, distorting the truth to fit
their worldly agenda. Whatever path we find laid out before us, we must be
careful of what we choose to follow. For if these invented ideas and religions
don’t align fully with the true Word of God, then they are false…period. We
have a great resource in the Bible that aids us in filtering out the mess and
focusing on the truth. Which highlights a great reason to be in the Word daily…so
that we don’t get fooled by this world, so that we don’t get deceived by clever
sounding ideas, and so that we don’t stray away from the one True God. May we
seek the truth of Christ with each day, resting confident on the fact that we follow
the one True God, and that nothing will pull us away from our allegiance to
Him. To God alone be the glory!
