Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of
Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to
peace. And be thankful
To let something “rule” in our lives means to let it take
over, to let it reign supreme, to let it guide our path and determine our
direction. The peace we receive from Christ…it’s the peace in knowing that we
are completely forgiven…the peace in knowing that we are not going to be dealt
the just punishment for our sins. It’s the peace in knowing that we don’t have to
submit to the ways of this world…we don’t have to submit to the tireless
pursuit of wealth, status, acceptance and popularity. It’s the peace in knowing
that we are a chosen people, that we are true children of the Living God. It’s
the peace in knowing that we are set apart, distinct, treasured, and beloved in
the eyes of The Almighty. It’s the peace in knowing that we are loved by The Creator…loved
by the One that calls all the shots. It’s the peace in knowing that whether we
live this life for 50 more years or 5 more minutes, we don’t have to worry or
fret, wringing our hands at what might happen after that last breath. It’s the
peace in knowing that our future is set, the price has been paid in full, and
the plan is complete. It is this peace that is to rule supreme in our hearts…we
are to let it dwell in our minds day and night. And when we do that very thing,
when we let the peace of Christ sit front and center in our hearts and minds,
we will actually feel that peace in our lives…and daily realize how much there
is to be thankful for. To God alone be the glory!
