I am confident that when we come to know Jesus Christ as THE
Savior, God doesn’t simply pat us on the back and store us in the “good room” with
the rest of his people. No, I am convinced that once we profess faith in
Christ, that faith takes to “legs” in our lives. It wants to move, take action,
make an impact. Through Christ, God welcomes us into his family…he says that
the past is the past, the slate is washed clean, and the road ahead if a bright
one. But I don’t believe that he is content with just having us on the team…no,
I am certain that he wants our faith to expand beyond just a “membership card”.
I am confident that God wants to use our lives to further his purpose…the very
lives that he alone created. He wants to use us to reach those in need, love
those that are forgotten, spread the Gospel of Christ to those living in
darkness. He wants us to feed the homeless, shelter the poor, comfort the
mourning. He wants to take this faith that has been established and allow it to
explode in our lives and the lives of others. He want us moving out of our self-centered
comfort zone, giving our time, energy and resources to be a genuine servant to
Him. If we are simply going through the motions or feel that we have some kind
of “understanding” with God that allows us to place him on the back burner (and
continue to live our “me first” lives), then we need to reexamine this “faith”
that we are proclaiming. Are we simply posers, pretending to serve the Lord? Or
are we willing to give every day to serve HIS purpose above our own? I pray
that we would embrace the latter and allow the Lord to work through each of our
lives…fulfilling his goals, wants, and desires. Then in the end, we can look
back on our lives and know that we lived it for Him. There is simply nothing better
that we can do with this brief life we are given. To God be the glory!
