When a disaster or tragedy occurs in our world, those effected usually turn to a source of security, strength, and hope to get through the event. For Christians, that source is the Lord. We turn to God for help in understanding why a loved one suddenly died…we turn to the Lord for strength in picking up the pieces of a shattered home after a devastating storm…we turn to the Savior for hope and direction when employment dries up…we turn to the Almighty when a once loving relationship dissolves and the road ahead is dark and uncertain. We may not be able to explain why something happened or fully understand the steps ahead, but we have certainty and security that we will not be alone. And as the text states above, even if we are to die, losing the only life we have ever known, we still are not left alone. For in death, we have an incredible new life through faith in Christ Jesus. So when life inevitably brings some calamity to our door, may we remember that we have the Almighty God standing by our side, ready and willing to lead the way, supplying the hope, encouragement, and love that we need. And may we share this with another today, opening theirs eyes to the incredible God that we have come to know as our Father. To God be the glory!
