Daily Verse: John 6:35

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”

If we presented the above text to a child or perhaps someone that has never been exposed to God’s Word, we would likely get pretty simple responses that centered around actual physical hunger and thirst. As if Jesus was actually handing out loaves of bread and bottled water. And after the tank was filled and the thirst quenched, the interaction would come to a close and the relationship would dissipate…at least until we were hungry again. But the text above deals with a deeper concept that goes beyond basic bread and water. Christ is saying that through him, we will find genuine peace…we will be forever content…we will no longer have want because we will have everything that we need. We will be completely satisfied. So that whether we are rich or poor, healthy or sick, successful or a total failure, we will not be in want. For in Christ we have the one thing that surpasses all other things…the one reward that stands head and shoulders above all the rest…we have eternal life. You can’t buy that at the store…in fact, you can’t get that by any means other than faith in Christ. And when we come to realize this…truly realizing what it is that has been given, we will find an incredible peace. So that no matter what tomorrow brings, we will be ok…we will be happy…we will be content. Through Christ we have everything…the love of the Father…the forgiveness of sin…and the promise of a never-ending, without expiration, forever and ever spot in heaven. There is true hope in that today! To God be the glory!
