“If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes!
When I read this verse, I picture God shouting from the heavens..."Stop trying to figure it all out on your own...I have the perfect plan already laid out for you...just trust me." And knowing this, I still manage to step out on my own, attempting to navigate the waters with my own wits and abilities...failing to seek direction in his Word...and then I get angry, discouraged, or frustrated when things don't turn out as planned...when I don't achieve that desired outcome. Maybe I don't have it all figured out...maybe I don't know the best path to take...maybe I can't solve every problem that comes my way. There is no denying it, we like to be in control...and we like to pretend that we don't need any guidance or assistance. But while we may be empowered, self-reliant, and skilled, we are mere infants when compared to the unmatched wisdom of our Lord. As Creator of each one of us, he knows exactly what we need...and he is willing to provide, in abundance, everything that we need...just see Psalm 81:10, "I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it". He will not just provide a taste, or a little bit of what we need...no, he will FILL our lives with what we need. All we have to do is open up our lives to his plan...and accept the path that he has designed for us. For those that do, there are many great things ahead. May we seek out the Lord today, allowing his plan to impact our lives. To God be the glory!
